Community Driven Strategic Information for Change Webinar
Please join Project SOAR, GNP+, ICW, UNAIDS and USAID for a webinar presenting the People Living with HIV Stigma Index 2.0. In this 1 hour webinar, researchers
from Project SOAR and collaborators from global networks of people living with HIV will describe the participatory process of updating the Stigma Index,
funded by USAID and PEPFAR. Presenters will highlight how the updated tool is different from the original version and will discuss the results from
pilot testing the updated tool in three countries—Cameroon, Senegal, and Uganda.
The People Living with HIV Stigma Index was developed by the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+), the International Community of Women Living
with HIV (ICW), the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and UNAIDS as a survey tool to collect evidence on stigma and discrimination
that can be used to advocate for the rights of people living with HIV.
Project SOAR, in collaboration with the Stigma Index partners (GNP+, ICW and UNAIDS), USAID and other stigma experts implemented a process to update the
People Living with HIV Stigma Index. Since the tool was first launched in 2008, it has been widely used, and the evidence base around stigma has grown.
The update was undertaken to more directly capture the experiences of the diversity of people living with HIV, and to take into account the shifting
global response to HIV—particularly the global recommendations around early treatment. The People Living with HIV Stigma Index has been strengthened
so it can be applied more effectively as a measurement, advocacy, and empowerment tool.
